Pastor Etoria V.  Goggins

Pastor Etoria V. Goggins is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  She is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and a Master of Divinity from the Howard University School of Divinity, Washington, D.C. She has also studied at Wesley Theological Seminary. Rev. Goggins was employed with the law firm of Hogan & Hartson in Washington, D.C.  She was formerly employed with the Prince George’s County Public School System.

On Friday, April 22, 2016, Rev. Goggins was appointed Pastor of First AME Church (Manassas), Virginia.  She served eleven years as Pastor of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in Odenton, Maryland. Within the first year of her appointment to Mt. Zion in 2005, God blessed them to move into a new church facility located in Severn, Maryland.  She served under the leadership of her spiritual father, the late Rev. Dr. William Robert Porter at Hemingway Memorial A.M.E. Church (District Heights, Maryland) where she served as Minister of Outreach and Evangelism Ministry, Coordinator for the Praise and Worship Ministry and facilitator for the Adult Bible Study. Additionally, she has served in a variety of leadership positions within the church.

Rev. Goggins has served as the “Women in Ministry” Caucus Leader for the Capital District in the Washington Conference.  She currently serves as the Recording Secretary for the Washington Annual Conference and served as President of the AME Ministerial Alliance of Washington D.C. and Vicinity (2013-2015). Additionally, she has served on the Board of Directors of the Collective Empowerment Group.  Rev. Goggins is a member of the Baltimore Regional Initiative for Genuine Equity (BRIDGE), the North Anne Arundel County Christian Clergy and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

God has anointed her with the ability to both preach and teach the Word of God with clarity and understanding. She has traveled throughout the country and abroad preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Rev. Goggins has also served as a volunteer hospital chaplain at Howard University Hospital.

Her life and ministry can be summarized with the following passage of Scripture:  “God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that you can think or ask according to the power that works IN you.” (Ephesians 3:20)
